I can’t believe how big they are getting. Katie is starting 5th grade and Hannah is starting 2nd grade. They are just growing up too fast. My beautiful girls. <3

We’ve got Braces!
Well Katie had been fighting me for over two years that although the dentist insisted she needed braces and all the X-rays in the world showing a tooth coming in right behind her other permanent tooth she still insisted that she would NEVER get braces. As it happens I told the girls only 3 horse shows per year but low and behold the horse show of horse shows is coming at the end of the year at the convention center no less. She offers a deal… “I’ll get braces if you let me do the horse show!” me… “DEAL!” Here we go!

Lord of the Flies
I was just asking John “so what grade is it that kids read Lord of the Flies?” Somehow he missed it so I’m guessing maybe it’s not required reading in North Carolina? Then H busts out “I love Lord of the Flies!” To which I have to reply “It’s not Lord of the Rings it’s Lord of the Flies.” Gotta love that girl!

Ok so I LOVED this one! The girls picked out their outfits and made them all by their selves! VERY NICE!

1st Grade Open House | Hannah
I loved Hannah’s open house. She showed me all she had been working on including a life size drawing of her hanging on the wall! Love my babies!

Horse Show Number 2!
Well Katie ended up being the only one to compete in this horse show before a torrential down pour moved in to shut down the show. But she came out with a lot of ribbons! You will notice her warming up in the rain. And it rains during the poles too.

Our First Horse Show!
This was the girls first horse show. They were so excited. We were very proud of them. They both got ribbons which being their first show we expected it to be more of a practice. Katie got a blue ribbon (1st place) and a 5th and 6th. Hannah got two 3rd place ribbons and a 5th and 6th. The divisions included rider (equestrian), rider & horse (pleasure), horse only (under the saddle) and riding around poles (poles). I think the funniest part was in the car ride home when Katie announced “my horse did better than I did in the show!”. In her defense Ricky has probably done hundreds of shows were as this was Katie’s first. 😉

The Fun Run was Fun!
Hannah’s Chocolate Bunny Game
The Egg Wars!
Ok. So this really cracks me up. We have egg wars every year with our Easter eggs for the Champion egg. Something we always did when I was a kid. Most of the time it’s just between Katie and Hannah but last year Lacey joined the fun. This year Mema was in on it and I love these pictures!!! Cracks me up!

Bad Mommy: Dying Easter Eggs AGAIN
Well bad Mommy forgot to pack the Easter Eggs for the beach. It’s a struggle to remember every time we go because they are in the fridge and I never think that I might need something from the fridge. But it turned out pretty nice since our dye wasn’t that good this year and Mema, Aunt Vicki and Uncle Rick got to dye one too! And lastly Uncle Rick got them a hammock for the beach which you will see them enjoying at the end.

My Funny Hannah!
Hannah has gotten so awesome and posing for the camera this days. A long cry from the days of “The Hand” which was basically a whole year of her throwing her hand up in front of my camera. So I am LOVING this phase. Of course she’s become a notorious photobomber too! That’s where all this started. I was just trying to take a couple of shots of the rabbits and this is what I got. Love that girl!

April Fools!
This has always been one of our favorite holidays. We do love some Tom Foolery! I usually fool the kids with fake food i.e. meatloaf dressed up as a cupcake and pound cake that looks like a grilled cheese. But they know my tricks now so I had to step it up and try something new this year. AND we have never pulled anything on Daddy so we decided to get him too! This years tricks included this lovely sign on Daddy’s car on the way to work. Of course he got me back by texting me telling me he got pulled over for it. NOT. Then we had my balloon cupcakes that kind of flopped because the icing (whip cream) melted in the fridge. Next time I’ll use real icing. Hannah joked around with them anyway. We had jello instead of kool-aid which Hannah got suspicious when it wiggled so I think I got busted there. But I got Katie with the lizard in the mailbox and spider on the toilet paper. I have a few new things up my sleeve for next year so we’ll see!!!
