One day it will show up in my memory feed, and it will be a yearly reminder that life is precious and not to take the things we dearly love for granted.

We have so much!
Be thankful. Be grateful.
Be kind to each other – love one another – support everyone.

We are all one!

A True Best Friend

So my whole family knows I’m not a huge pet person.  I love them and all but if I had the choice it would be a  hair free house instead.  But when your little people are sad there is NOTHING like a dog to cry on to make you feel better.  Yes she was mad at me for taking these pictures. But how sweet. 🙁  In my defense that is why I only got a couple. 2017_0010 2017_0012 2017_0011

About Me | to Katie’s 6th Grade Teacher

When asked to write a paragraph about Katie for her 6th grade teacher I thought her future self might want to know what she was like in 6th grade.  🙂

To whom it may concern:

Katie is hard working and thrives on positive reinforcement.  She loves to joke around but will follow directions to the letter when asked.  She is an exceptional reader and has a very good memory.  She is also very good at math but MUST understand the concept behind the steps or she gets very frustrated.  She will doggedly pursue that understanding and may need to be told to step away from it and come back to it to lower the frustration level. She is a good problem solver and only needs minimal instruction to perform complex tasks or projects.  However when partnered with other students in the past if they did not do their share of the work she did the entire project herself rather than complaining or getting a poor grade.

Socially Katie is very kind hearted and does not like to hurt others feelings. With this she tends to be the peacemaker among friends which can get her drawn into drama and may be misinterpreted if all the facts are not uncovered.  She is working on standing up for herself in a kind manner.

Overall she is a great student in any environment but will thrive even more in a good one.

Thanks for taking an interest in our child! Of course we think she is fabulous!  😉

Katie-isms A Granny Nanny

When telling Katie that buying children things like boberry biscuits after the EOG’s was a good investment and getting the “huh?” look, I explained that children are our future and who was going to take care of me when I was old. After all I took care of her when she was young.  To this she replied “Daddy!” Then I said Daddy was going to be old too.  So she then announced she would be getting us a “Nanny, A Granny Nanny”.  Thanks Katie. Love you too! lol!

Katie-isms | Going to live with us through College

Now this one is an official BET so it’s for the record! Katie INSISTS that when she goes to college which will be NC State by the way, that she absolutely WILL want to live at home.  I told her when she got to that age should would probably be sick of us by then and want to live on her own but she was adamant that she would want to live at home.   So for the record I told her it would go on the blog so I could say “I told you so” later.  :p

Where do babies come from?

In the car with the girls Hannah busted out and wanting to know how babies are made. Katie immediately shrieked with horror as Hannah asked how they were made. As I began to tell her Katie was begging and pleading for me not to talk about it. But of course I do. But I say to Hannah they just give each other a very special hug and that the hug is a very special hug and very private. A huge sigh of relief resounds from Katie. So a week later we get in the car with Katie and Hannah wants to know more about this very special hug. Katie is still hiding her face behind her hands in horror. You just have to laugh.
